Message from Essex and Suffolk Water
In response to the Environment Agency’s announcement of drought across the East Anglian area, we are introducing a Temporary Use Ban, commonly known as a hosepipe ban, across all our supply areas in Essex and Suffolk.
The restrictions will be legally enforced from 00.01am on Monday 3 August 2026.
This follows months of prolonged dry weather, warm temperatures and three successive heatwaves, which have significantly affected river flows, soils and the wider environment.
Message from Anglian Water
Following months of exceptionally dry weather, three successive heatwaves and significantly increased demand for water, Anglian Water have announced a Temporary Use Ban (hosepipe ban) across our East of England Region for domestic customers.
The ban has been implemented immediately with several other water companies responding similarly to the same conditions.
There are a small number of exceptions to the ban to protect jobs, livelihoods and those customers who are most vulnerable. Customers can still water their gardens and grow fruit and vegetables if they use a watering can instead of a hose or sprinkler. At present the hosepipe ban only applies to domestic hosepipe use.
